Vintage Czech Button Earrings | Daisy | Kelly Green

Great everyday earring. It classic but also original.  This bright green is always in season.

Many of my button earrings are shankless, not this one. It was a button with a metal shank in the back that I cut off before weaving around it.  The back is concave so the netted bezel curves with the button.

I weave the bezel around a Czech button using nylon thread and silver Japanese glass seed beads. The Czech button makers have dwindled to just two brothers in their 70s.  They use molds that can date to the 1920s.  

A silver lever back ear wire finishes the earring securely at 1.25 inches. The V ear wire measures 1.5 inches in length.

The button is 18mm before I set it and measures .75 inches when wrapped, about the size of a quarter.
