Falling Hojas Necklace

I love making this necklace with variations of this shape, hojas, Spanish for leaves. Because I use seed beads, I can play with colors in a way that other patterns don’t let me. 

I weave each hoja separately, picking up the beads one by one. I lay the pieces put before I stitch them together to create this colorful statement necklace. I’ve finished the focal with a 14K gold filled chain, whose shape echos the the shape of the woven piece.

Fully extend the necklaces measures 17 inches with a 2 inch extender. The finished focal is 4 inches wide at the top and 5 inches long.
